Mucho Gusto
A Mucho Macho Man relative, Much Gusto is in the Bob Baffert family. He placed first place the 2019 Robert B Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita. His next race will be March 16th at the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park.
Improbable
Bob Baffert trains this Derby Horse. His Jockey is D Van Dyke. The horse won at the 2018 Los Alamitos Futurity, a top race against top Derby Horses. His next race will probably be against Game Winner at the San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita.
Game Winner
Bob Baffert trains Game Winner and his jockey is Joel Rosario. He is one of the leading Derby horses right now. His next race is March 9th, the prep race San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita Racetrack. Keep a close eye on Game Winner and look for his next update in a couple weeks.
Kentucky Derby Favorite is one of these 4 horses.
The Kentucky Derby is an event which draws crowds from all over the world. Prior to the main event, prep races allow prospective horses to compete, rack up points, and climb the leaderboard. The prep races are also a chance for professional handicappers like me to gather information and know the Kentucky Derby favorite. Here are my top 4 leading contenders for the 2019 Derby.
A 3 year old horse named Instagrand is the leading Kentucky Derby Favorite. His next race is the San Felipe Stakes on March 9, 2019. While he hasn’t raced in 4+ months, the San Felipe Stakes will show us what this animal is truly made of. We’ll have to see how he handles the extra distance but ALSO 2 turns around the track. Also, horses gain muscle and hundreds of pounds over the winter. The bottom line is this horse has a ton of talent. Here is Instagrand’s racing history. Also, you can watch the live derby prep race at Derby Jackpot.
Game Winner is the next up on my list to finish second.
War of Will will be the third place finisher. This horse is versatile and he doesn’t mind running wide. That will bode well for the Derby.
Finally, watch Improbable take the 4th spot. Bob Baffert trains this horse and he will probably run in the San Felipe stakes in Louisiana. This guy is different than every 3 year old we have seen this year and some would say it’s not even close.
